The embryology laboratory at Loma Linda University Center for Fertility & IVF is responsible for identifying and handling patient oocytes for fertilization, embryo culture and selection, and embryo cryopreservation and storage. In addition, the IVF laboratory handles embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGT-M).
Laboratory services include: - Retrieval, hatching, assessment, and fertilization of female eggs (oocytes) - A unique incubator for each patient's embryos - PGT-M and screening - Selection of the best embryo for day-3 or day-5 blastocyst transfer - Embryo transfer laboratory assistance, including the use of needle guidance and embryo glue to aid implantation during transfer - Vitrification for freezing eggs or embryos for later IVF treatment, post-treatment storage, or fertility preservation
